William Moorcroft Liberty & Co Burslem Pomegranate Twin Handled Planter
A scarce example of a William Moorcroft Liberty & Co Burslem pottery oblong twin-handled planter.
An early and scarce example, with typical art nouveau form strap handles, the oblong planter is fully decorated to all sides with 10 large tubelined pomegranates and leaves in bright deep colours and very likely made for the Liberty & Co department store in Regent Street London.
Fully marked and impressed MOORCROFT BURSLEM with full green painted signature to base.
Condition: In very good condition and free from unsightly crazing and staining. The planter appears to be perfect and there is an old small stress hairline barely noticeable to one corner and an insignificant glaze miss to the foot rim extreme edge mentioned for total accuracy which are very difficult to photograph, the planter will display and function perfectly well.
Marks: Impressed marks and model code with underglaze green monogram.
Size: 38cm length x16 cm width x 11cm height.
Date: Circa 1910.
