Large Glasgow Style Antique Arts and Crafts Brass Jardiniere by Margaret Gilmour.
A fine, very large & rare example of a flared rectangular Scottish Arts and Crafts hand hammered brass jardiniere or planter c.1900 by Margaret Gilmour with elaborate botanical decoration.
Of pure Glasgow form, the planter is beautifully repousse decorated with highly stylised dragonfly motifs, aquatic designs and waterlillies to all sides with typical triangular form feet to the base.
Considered as one of the “Glasgow Girls”, Margaret Gilmour attended the School of Art from 1877 until 1880. The Gilmour Studio was set up with her 2 sisters at 179 West George St. Glasgow.
Condition: In excellent condition with no dents importantly retaining its rich patina.
