An extraordinary and highly decorative very large size Doulton Burlsem Pottery Aesthetic movement Japanesque blue and white Moon vase or flask with gilt highlights in the style of Dr Christopher Dresser.
The beautiful flattened circular shape depicts a distinctive Willow pattern circular emblem set amongst prunus blossoms.
The design is further complemented with geometric gold gilt detailing to a circular band to its circumference, pointed feet and circular neck opening.
Likely to have been made as a prototype for exhibition purpose, the vase has no visible Doulton markings due to its shape but it is a well known pattern called Persian Rose.
Size: 37cm high.
Marks: Various indistinct marks to base.
Date: circa 1880.
Condition: Remarkable excellent original condition without damage of any kind, the gilt detailing is fully intact and not worn.
