Birmingham Guild of Handicraft BGH Antique Arts and Crafts Brass/Copper Coal Bin/Scuttle.
A rare large planished copper & brass coal scuttle with matching shovel designed by Arthur Stansfield Dixon for the Birmingham Guild of Handicraft c.1905.
Of outstanding architectural form it has has a shared & easily recognisable design philosophy to that of Dr Christopher Dresser with its tripoidal feet arrangement, angular form and its overall design functionality making this a most fascinating design statement well ahead of its time.
The quality is sublime and the scuttle and shovel weigh an immense 9kg and stamped B.G.H. to the coal shovel.
